It was really GREAT to see so many of you there last night – we covered off a load of stuff and it was lovely to see more faces along too.
ALL leaders are welcome to the meetings but I appreciate not everyone wants to come.
I have kept the minutes short – so shout if anything is unclear.

1) WELCOME & SHARING OF NEWS:
Great to hear sections at or near capacity.
Please ensure you keep cubs/scouts up to date as appropriate to ensure that Beavers/Cubs can move up when ready.
Jayne mentioned that possibility of another leader which would enable her to increase numbers from 16 Calcot Cubs soon to be at 25
Discussed programmes, good to hear of the variety going on in most sections.
Please send programmes through to Ross as GSL as this is a key part of his responsibility and Marc to put on website.
Lee mentioned able to do first aid for free until Nov (will check) otherwise Red Cross options but £3 a head.
Discussed St George’s Day – do this every year so a heads up to be ready for next April! Well done to Scouts and both cub packs for making it! (and we were a large group on the day so great to see!)
Jeff and Jane have stepped down – volunteering was only short term
Margaret is stepping down from Induction role, Lee to take over and support Group leaders

* Ross * Time to invest Roz – can Ross come on 8 May?

* Jodi/Jason* Please ensure Torie knows she is welcome to all Group Meetings and Group events as a key part of our leadership team
* Asha * interested in a YL – she will follow up.
* Jo H * will check with Richard if we can simply add YL to our distribution list and trust them to ask their parents before attending additional meetings, I think so!
* Asha * looking to have a date for a ceremony for Cubs getting their silver award (highest award in cubs) Possible July 20th at Sausage sizzle? Please confirm. Also considering inviting other dignitaries etc..
2) FINANCES Not discussed in any great depth as Jo B not there
* ALL * Asked for anyone wanting to be involved with setting policy on money to let Jo Hammett know
* Jo H * will ask around for more guidance on group accounts
3) VALIDATION Most people obviously up to date as new leaders
* Ross/Marc/Paul/Lee/Clive * Actions re: validating Scout leaders
* Ross * chase re: Lee’s TA status as looks like stuck at County. Vince put everything through some weeks a go.
4) HOLYBROOK FESTIVAL
* Jodi et al * under control

* Lee * will collect from yellow store in Ross’s absence
* Ross * give them the details for yellow store and district store for marquee
5) THEALE JUBILEE DAY
* Jo shared details, promised to produce a letter to go home that all sections in Theale can give out. ATTACHED
* Theale leaders ** Please try and get some idea of those coming so we can give names to Ann re flags/readings next week
* Jo H * to go back to Ann and say we’re asking children for numbers
* Jo H * when going back to Ann ask for a time slot as we don’t want to be doing games all afternoon.

6) RALLY IN THE VALLEY
Covered what it is and who it is for All leaders and YL invited climbing tower, rifles, workshops, cooking for leaders!

7) LOGO COMPETITION
Agreed to do as homework
* Lee * to write letter including a big shape for kids to draw in but also the real size shape so everyone knows size!

Do week before & over half term so could show winning design for Family Camp/AGM
Use Tolleys to make it a real badge Inspired by a child in the group Need to decide how we will judge – entries in w/c June 11
9) CAMP Will only work if you RA-RA camp!
Want as many families to come as possible so please get your Beavers, Cubs and Scouts excited about it!
Deposit is returnable if CRB issue
OH forms to be checked by leaders as YOU need to see ID.
I have attached list, if you drop in to me, I can double-check and post to Margaret with others each week.
Cover AGM at same time – will add to next letter and invite non-camping families to that part for small charge to cover food Lee showed camp badge design – excellent. Will order when confirmed numbers on May 18th.

Do put in travel expenses for long journeys, you shouldn’t be out of pocket by Scouting.

Ross and I can’t make the campfire training now on May 12th – we are camping in “Daisy”...not sure if anyone else fancies it?
11) DATE FOR NEXT MEETING
Can you all try really hard to make: 21 MAY or 24 MAY – Let me know if you can make one or both and we’ll pick most popular again.
At this meeting we will break in to smaller groups and NAIL CAMP!! Food, activities, safety, logistics, equipment etc. Even if you are not camping if you’ve experience which can help – please do come and support the group!
Will invite parent helpers along, so talk to your parents and see who is interested.
We are looking for a venue, Asha to see if we can use John Cumber Hall
